You will read "I Just Wanna Be Average" from the 50 Essays book (pg 350), or you can download it from two posts below this one. There are three tasks you have with this reading:
- Do the four questions that follow the essay. (For those of you without a book, you will need to copy them out of someone's book.) You will only submit your answers, but they must be numbered and they must be in complete sentences and/or paragraphs.
- I will look for ACTIVE READING on your handout, or in your book. That means I want to see highlighting, underlining and annotations (notes in the margins, between the lines, etc.)
- You will do the Style and Rhetorical Appeals chart for this reading. The link for it is a few posts below, or look to the left. When you do the chart, remember to use the Style and Rhetorical Appeals Terms to Know. Understand that you will not find EVERY TERM on the chart in the essay. However, you will find quite a few things from each section on the chart. I want you to indicate what you do find and provide specific quotes, examples and details that support your findings. I want THOROUGH work here.
Period 5 - You have test corrections, too (due Monday with the home learning assignment). Oh, and don't forget to rewrite your essay (due Wednesday...YAY!).
Period 6 - The "I Just Wanna Be Average" items are due on Tuesday for you. Your vocab test will be on Tuesday, and your test corrections and essay rewrite will be due on Thursday, so plan accordingly. Most importantly, know that I miss you! (I am at a workshop today for A.P., which will help us all immensely!)
All classes, don't forget that the extra credit is due 10/27 and 10/28. The essay for Have a Little Faith, BTW, is to compare and contrast the the rabbi and the preacher (I don't mean their race, income, and religion). You will need to have an attention-grabbing introduction, a thesis statement, several body paragraphs, several quotes and examples, a stellar conclusion that leaves my mouth hanging open, leaves me in AWE!
Love and miss you all! Happy Weekend!

hey mrs!!
ive been trying to send my wolf colors work by the blog but there is something wrong with my computer and it says that it cant be sent! idk whats wrong with it though! i guess we will talk about it tomorrow!! Goodnight

I'm going to start with Jacob, Jacob symbolises the color red and brown because he is the wolf that is filled with energy and passion. Also he is strong and he loves Bella which represents the color red, he can also be violent or intense. Also brown matches Jacob because, he gets Bella to rely on him and he tells her that he promises to protect her from any harm.
Sam is the leader of the wolf gang from La Push and the lover of Emily.Who he truly loves therefor Sam is symbolized with the color purple and gray, which stands for intelligence, maturity, solid and the old age Sam is the oldest one in the gang also the strongest and the most experienced. Sam has royalty because he is the gang leader and he is most respected.
Paul is the guy that never has patience, and is never in control thats why Paul symbolizes the color red and brown. Red stands for aggresion, danger, fire, war and brown for Paul is simply comfort he is the kind of wolf that doesnt like to be bothered and does things his way. Paul constantly fights with Jacob because he gets out of control, Jacob always wins because he is alot stronger though.
Embry is more of the calm type of wolf he is the usually the calmest one thats why his color is ligt gray. and his color represents him as a person/wolf who is intelligent and mature.
Jared is the type of guy/wolf that seems to have a great personality, his color is black and black symbolizes power sophistication. Jared barely speaks, but when he does it makes you feel like you would of taken what you said back. overall Jared is a great person.
