Periods 3 & 4 Reflections

In your literature circles today, you each had a role and you had meaningful conversations about quotes from New Moon, the characters, how this relates to our own lives and the human experience, among other topics. What I want you to do here is reflect on what you discussed. You can write about your role and how your circle members responded to your question(s), or you can reflect on the questions that were asked of you (or you can do both - LOL).

  • Please be sure that your reflections are grammatically correct and that you use ALIVE words!!!!!

  • Period 3's responses are due by Tuesday at 11:00 p.m.; Period 4's is due Wednesday at 11 p.m.

The role I had was discussion director and I had to the guide my peers and ensure that they where doing there jobs. I had to develop four questions that we had to discuss. There was one question that I wrote which was; “What would be Jacobs reaction if instead of Alice visiting Edward came to visit Bella”. My peers where super excited. They have never imagined that, and everyone had many comments towards it. One of the girls, had said that Jacob would get furies and would have gotten into a fight with Edward and Edward would of find out that Jacob was a wolf. Overall, the discussion went great and many quetions where asked and everyone participated.

:) Hope you liked it!

The role that I had in my group was being the passage master. My task was to select a paragraph from chapter fourteen and discuss what they think about the paragraph that I've selected. One of the paragraphs that I selected was where Jacob and Paul get into a arguement. We discussed about the paragraph and I recieved amazing feedback. The discussion was amazing and they really enjoyed the paragraph that I selected. Overall, it was an oustanding discussion.

The role that I had in my group was the, Connector Captain and my job was to connect the text to experiences in and out of school, to other text and to myself. I believe it was very exciting to see how things in the novel really did connect to things in our life. We all talked about our experience in being caught between two people and not being able to choose which one we really wanted, which relates to Bella not being able to choose between Edward and Jacob. We also talked about risking our lives for someone we really cared about, and let me tell you C-Rod it got pretty interesting. Over all it was an incredible experience in which we saw things in a different and unique way. Thank you for thinking about doing this literary circle with us today it truly was wonderful.

I disscused it with my classmates and we all agreed that what I picked was really good. I think we all enjoyed ourselves with this assingment and hopefully we could do it again.

The role that I had in my group was the people person. My task was to create two questions regarding the character of my choice. The character that I choose was Jacob, furthermore here is one the questions that I created “In your point of view how do you think that Jacob feels when she’s with Alice” according to both my answer as well as the group here is the response, the way that Jacob must experience when Bella is with alice is that he must feel left out along with that he thinks that she has chosen the bloodsucker, which is alice (Jacob quotes in the book) as an alternative of him furthermore he must feel depressing . I must say that I was partly surprise that my self and the group’s answers were very similar. The second question that I created was “what are the emotions that Bella showed when she saw Alice?” I know that this may look like an simple question however I wanted to identify exactly if the group saw each and every way that Bella reacted or was described the instant that she distinguish that the visitor was no one other than Alice. According to my answer that I gave, I said that Bella was at first shocked as well as excited at the same time to see her in addition to that then she was content just by having her there moreover, according to my group they agreed but they also added other comments to my answer. Overall, the discussion was marvelous and I hope to do it again further in the future.

hope you like it :)

Notes on the literature circles:
My role in the literature circles was the Connector Captain for chapter 16 and my job was basically to connect the text to experiences in and out of school, to other texts and to ourselves. This chapter was basically about how Bella jumped off the cliff and Jacob rescued her. Also, it is about Harry passing away. We found it really interesting how in Twilight Edward rescued Bella in the ballet studio she used to dance in, and in New Moon Jacob is the one saving and protecting her. I noticed the girls were discussing how at the end of the chapter Jacob smells a vampire at Bella's house and how Bella wants him to take her. They were debating whether or not he should had let her go on her own because they didn't know who could of been the vampire. I remember making the opinion that, that was one more of Bella's reckless decisions because she didn’t know who it could off been. In addition I said Bella was making Jacob's promise of protecting her and never hurting her harder to keep. But they said Jacob shouldn’t have let her go on her own. But then again in order for Jacob to be able to protect her, he must protect himself first. To sum up, the literature circles were really nice to experience. I believe it would be a great idea to do them more often. Discussing with the girls about the book got me to circumspect from all points of views, not just from the ones I like to look at the most.

My role was People Person. The chapter for my group was Chapter 17.We all had an amusing time in doing the assigment. We share and discuss many ideas.I had to create two questions, one of them was,''Why does Alice keep it a secret from Edward when she goes to see Bella? It was a bit hard to figure this one out because how come Alice didn’t tell Edward? Was it because Edward was somewhere else or was it because he didn’t want to visit Bella or lastly because he didn’t want to see Bella hurt?We had a few spins around this question, but we got through it and we had a good idea for the answer.Overall working in groups is fascinating because you get to open up and discuss your ideas and points of view and if you didn’t comprehend something, your group can help you out.

People Person, Connector’s Captain, Passage Master, and Discussion Director is the four activities we worked on. My job was People Person. My task was to discuss one character within the group, and come up with two questions. One of them was “What do you think is going to happen between Jacob and Bella’s relationship now that Alice is around?” My group and I thought that was a great question, because we had only read up to chapter 17, and it had us thinking what would happen next. My group and the rest of the class were very curious, waiting to see what happens. Will Alice ruin their friendship? Would Edward be back in her life again? Would Bella like this? What would Jacob think of this? Would he agree or disagree? We came up with a great discussion and gave our thoughts of what we thought would happen. Doing this task taught me to look more into details and helped me understand the story much better. Overall, we had a great time discussing our own ideas.

My role in the group was the Discussion Director. I had to guide instructions and make sure that everyone was contributing with their parts in the group. My task was basically to develop four questions to discuss within my group. One of the questions I came up with was, "What would you predict would happen if Jacob wouldn't have fallen asleep on Bella?" my group thought this was an interesting question and they all came up with their own opinions and answers. We also had another interesting thought about a question I came up with, "How did you feel about Jacob and Bella being all alone, in the sofa." many thought it was a good way to show how Bella and Jacob's relationship kept growing more and more each day but, others predicted that Bella and Jacob were getting too close and anything could have happened between them at that moment. We all had interesting conversations and by doing the literary circle activity it innovated us to focus on our reading by making it more interesting.

I love you (:

The role I had was Connector Captain. This was probrably my favorite one because its really interesting how anyone of us can relate and connect to the characters and situations in "New Moon". One of the questions I put were. Can you relate to Charlie In some way knowing that his best friend died? And the answers some of my peers gave me were really good and inspirational, for example one of them said that their dog died a couple months ago and its been really hard because her dog was really important to her. Overall It was a good discussion (:

In my literature circle today in class I played the role of people person. We had conversations about New Moon, we first summerized the chapter we were working on which was 15. Then we all did out role and discussed it I really liked my role of making up questions of how the characters felt in the story and the best part was seeing how my circle answered to the quetions. One that i really enjoyed working on was when the person making connections aseked me that if I would ever do the same as Bella, when she cliff- dived and put her life in danger just to hear the voice of her loved one. That question really put me to think through and wonder if I really ever loved a guy before or how he would have to be like in order for me to risk my life in that way.

In my literature circle yesterday in class I played the role of Connector Captain. Since our group was working on chap. 15 I had to connect that chap. to something in our life or own experiences. One of my questions was, "Would you ever put your life in risk to just hear your love ones voice again?" The people in my group had to respond to what they thought one of them yelled, "Hell no why would I'm worth much more than that." The other two utter, "Maybe, I would have to think about it." I myself think that I would have to think about it numerous because it's as if I was giving my life away just for that and if they aren't for me why should I have to be. Furthermore it was an awesome discussion.

In our Literature Circle, I was the Passage Master. My role was to select key passages from chapter 16 that were exciting, fun or strange to read aloud and discuss it with my group. The first passage that i chose was when Bella falls asleep next to Jacob. When discussing, I received wonderful feedback from my team. I personally think that the Literature Circle's were great.

The role that I had in my group was the Discussion Director. My task was to create four questions to discuss in my group and to assist the members in there jobs. One of questions for the discussion that I developed is “What’s your first thought that came up to you when Bella saw Alice in her house”. My group members were thrilled when I asked that question. My group members gave me great feedback and I enjoyed doing this discussion.

The role I had for my group was Discussion Director. My role was to discuss four questions on chapter 16.
One of my questions that got my group members debating was "If you were in Jacob's shoes, how would you have prevented Bella from jumping off the cliff"? My group said stuff like I would run and be there for her so she doesn't have all those feelings of not being with Edward the man she loved. At the end everyone was talking about my questions. BTW C-rods the best :)

My role was People Person. We worked on chapter 14, I asked about Bellas behavior tours Sam and Emily? And it was really amazing seeing my group answering that question. They all think that bella was being jealous.
But when i asked " what words do you think describe bella?" Everybody started talking about her and we really got into the question. They think bella is annoying , clingy, good friend and nice.It was a really cool activity, and that way everyone got a chance to share thheir opinion.
Love you (:

My Role was Discussion Director and my group and I had to discuss about Ch 14.

In Ch 14 there's a big drama about Paul and Jacob getting into a fight. One of my questions that related to this was, "How did you feel about Paul and Jacob getting in a fight? Do you think that Paul was over-exaggerating?" But, my favorite question was, "What do you think about Bella since the beginning of the book?" I got answers like she's so stupid and that shes not all there in the head. I mean come on, who would jump of the top of a cliff for fun?

Overall, I kept the group talking and it got to the point where Bella's life got into one of our group members lives.

The task I managed with was Passage Master. My role was to choose 2 passages that were diverting, amazing , or eccentric from chapter 15 and share them with my group to acquire a perspective on it. So the primary passage I selected was in page 351 , 2nd paragraph because it was truly amusing and vivid to us because of the manner Jacob undertakes with Bella. Which is with affection. Furthermore , Passage # 2 in page 358 , in paragraph 5 was accepted because it's abnormal or strange that Bella yearns for abbarations of Edward and agrees being reckless by cliff diving without knowledge on it knowing anything can occur.

My role was the People person. I had to discuss one character within the group through guiding questions, me and my teammates also had to make inferences about what might happen next and how the characters will react. We all collaborated and did our best, everyone had their own opinions and ideas. Good job Ashley, Melissa and Dante!!!!

The role I had was Connector Captain, and I was responsible to connecting events in the chapter with our lives. In the discussion, some of the questions that were being asked made me think beyond its limits hearing my groups answers and since everyone in the group managed to look at the situation in a different perspective, giving a clearer view to the whole chapter, and opened my eyes to some of the things that I never really thought about. Our group cooperated very well by sharing their thoughts and ideas.

Well last class the literature circle was an interesting activity because it was very interactive. The role I had was a Discussion Director for chapter 15 “Pressure”. Besides that I guided the discussion and made sure everyone contributed, I was very glad to hear these good questions that actually made me think. For example, Geisa asked me “Would you ever risk your life to hear your loved one’s voice again?” I really didn’t know what to say to that, due to the fact that it all depended on the situation and its circumstances. Like if it was for Edward I would totally jump off a cliff to hear his lovely voice but for somebody else I highly doubt it. In addition, all of the other questions that were in my group was interesting and made the learning circle an enjoyable experience.
However, as being a Discussion Director my task was to ask four questions. One of the question was “What incident does Jacob confront the morning he was supposed to go cliff diving with Bella? What did Bella feel towards his decision?” Somebody answered and told me that “ Jacob had to go hunt for Victoria because she had showed up again. Bella felt that she was somehow betrayed because Jacob ditched her again but he did have a reasonable excuse.”

Hey Mrs. Rodriguez I have already spoken to you about the problem I was having not only me being absent and leaving class early but the work that was do I had written it down but you didn’t accept it you told me I had to put it on the blog. I told you my blog wasn’t working and I had made like 10 of those already, so I told you and you said I was doing something wrong. Well, I wasn’t doing anything wrong so I made another blog, and I tried my best to not have spelling or grammar errors. Hopefully you accept it. See you in class. Love you C-Rod, bye.

The role I was assigned was People Person. That was the most extraordinary role I’ve gotten throughout the first nine weeks. I had to come up with 2 questions on 1 character then discuss it with my group so I can get a response and put the answer under the response. One of my questions was, why does Bella tell Jacob one thing but her thoughts are the total opposite. For example she tells Jacob something nice but in her thoughts she says I don’t feel the same way. Right now I’m going to get into specific details from the story. Pages 212-217, but my favorite scene from the book is half of page 212. “Now, just hold on a minute, Bella,” he said in a clam voice. “Tell me something.” I grimaced. I didn’t want to do this. Not just now, but not ever. There was nothing left in my life at this point that was more important than Jacob Black. But he seemed determined to ruin everything. Another fantastic scene on page 216 on confused Bella. Jacob was quiet, thoughtful. He left his arm around me, and it was so warm that the cold wind felt good. I stared out the windshield, consumed with guilt. It was wrong to encourage Jacob. Pure selfishness. It didn’t matter that I’d tried to make my position clear. If he felt any hope at all that this could turn into something other than friendship, then I hadn’t been clear enough. How could I explain so that he would understand? I was an empty shell. Like a vacant house-condemned- for months I’d been utterly uninhabitable.
