You will need your 50 Essays books! You will also need these questions for class on Friday or Monday. SMILE, and I will miss you!
1. What is the connection that Woolf makes between the moth and the other things she sees outside her window?
2. When thinking about such large subjects as life and death, why does Woolf take as her immediate subject such as a small creature? Reread the essay with that question in mind, focusing on the most descriptive passages and try to answer by imagining alternative ways she might have written it.
3. Both Woolf’s “The Death of a Month” and EB White’s “Once More to the Lake” deal with nature and contemplate death or an end to an era. How are their descriptions and themes they develop from those descriptions different?
4. What is Woolf’s purpose in writing this essay? To explore, inform, convince, meditate or pray?
5. Why has this essay endured for sixty years? What makes it memorable, lasting?

Periods 3 & 4 - Attend Ms. Concepcion's FCAT tutoring from 6:20 a.m. to 7:20 a.m., or from 2:20-3:30 p.m. each day. She is in room 3119. Not only will this help with your grades, it will also help you acquire the skills needed to succeed on the FCAT reading and beyond! Remember, you get points for attending FCAT Reading Camp on 2/13, 2/20, 2/27 and 3/6.

Periods 5 & 6 - Sign up to help with FCAT Reading Camp on one of the next four Saturdays. The hours are from 8 am to Noon-thirty (LOL). You must text me by Thursday night if you are interested!

WAY TO GO! FCAT READING!

The following students made some serious learning gains on the FCAT Reading! One learning gain is 77 points over last year's score. Here are those students, along with the number of gains made. For example, 5 gains equals a 385 point improvement from last year. (AMAZING!) Remember, for every gain, your name is entered into the drawing for two $100 gift cards, which will be done in August when we return.

WAY TO GO!

Congrats to the following students for making A's in both my reading and English classes this quarter: MONICA HERNANDEZ, ERIKA MUNIZ and ANTHONY VALECILLOS

I am very proud of all my babies, but I am especially proud of the aforementioned students. That is quite a feat!!!!
